This video (30 minutes) describes cascade control which is a control structure that can give improved control - mainly due to better disturbance compensation - as compared to single loop control.
The video is based on the simulator cascade_control_temperature.exe which is in the zip-file cascade_control_temperature.zip. (You can run the simulator while watching the video.) Information about this simulator is available here.
